This policy covers the private Home Assistant Nest application and its public information website.

Purpose and data processed

The application connects only Google Nest devices explicitly authorized by the account owner to their private Home Assistant installation. Depending on the device and permissions granted, it processes device identifiers and names, room assignments, states, events and timestamps, camera images, and video and, where supported, audio streams. OAuth access and refresh tokens enable authorized API access. The application does not receive the Google account password.

Processing and sharing

Communication takes place with Google through the Smart Device Management API and Cloud Pub/Sub, and with the private Home Assistant installation. Data is used solely to display and use authorized devices in the private smart home. The operator does not sell this data or use it for advertising or training AI models. The public information website receives neither Nest access tokens nor camera data. Google's services are additionally subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

Storage and security

Access tokens and integration settings are stored in the private Home Assistant installation. Retention of state and event histories, logs, any saved media and backups depends on that installation's local configuration. Removing the integration does not necessarily delete all existing copies. This public website does not store camera images or provide a recording feature. Credentials are not made public, and communication with Google is encrypted.

Authorization, revocation and deletion

Access begins only after explicit authorization by the Google account owner. Authorization can be revoked at any time under Google Account → Third-party connections. The integration can also be removed from Home Assistant. Previously stored local histories, media and backups may need to be deleted separately. Requests for access, correction or deletion can be sent to the operator using the contact address above.

Website hosting

These static information pages are hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver and secure them, Cloudflare processes technical connection information such as IP address, request time, requested URL and browser information. This website does not use analytics tools, advertising trackers, forms or its own cookies. Cloudflare may apply technical security measures. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy for further information.
